Google‘s latest Chromebook software update has arrived, bringing significant improvements to multitasking and network performance. The new version aims to make juggling multiple apps and smooth online experiences even easier.
The M124 update introduces a streamlined approach to split-screen mode. Users can now instantly preview compatible open apps on the opposite side of their display after initiating split view with one app. Making the transition between windows quicker and less disruptive.
Google has also added Wi-Fi Quality of Service to prioritize important network activities. This borrowed router feature is designed to ensure activities like video calls face less interference. Giving a better quality when networks are crowded. Ensuring things like conferencing and game play run as smoothly as possible.
Enhanced Settings Menu

The update also includes a redesigned settings interface with a structure inspired by mobile operating systems. Offering a more intuitive layout and making specific options easier to find. Chrome Unboxed reported the new design adopts Material You styling for a unified look across Google products.
In addition, users can now digitally control webcam position even without hardware controls. Allowing basic pan, tilt and zoom functionality on more devices. The update further includes a two finger swipe to dismiss notifications from the trackpad.
The M124 Chromebook software update is rolling out over the coming days to supported Chromebooks. Owners should keep an eye out for the upgrade notification. Or manually check for it in the Settings menu. The improvements aim to boost productivity and online experiences.
