Meta has taken a step, in its AI chatbot journey by launching Meta AI for all users in India. The chatbot powered by Llama 3 previously tested during the countrys elections is now available on Metas apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Facebook. It’s worth noting that currently Meta AI only supports English and doesn’t cater to languages.
The introduction of Meta AI in India follows its rollout in countries this year. The delayed launch in India was likely due to the elections. Users can now engage with the AI chatbot through the search bar on Metas apps or, via the meta.ai website to access a range of features and assistance.
Functionality and Features
Meta AI provides features, to known chatbots like ChatGPT from OpenAI, Gemini from Google and Claude from Anthropic. Users can utilize this chatbot for a variety of tasks such as getting recipe recommendations designing workout routines getting help with writing emails and summarizing texts. Additionally the chatbot offers suggestions like recommending Instagram Reels based on the users search history.
When integrated into the Facebook feed Meta AI allows users to ask questions about posts. For example if a user sees a photo of the aurora borealis they can ask about the locations and times to view this phenomenon. Furthermore Meta AI has the capability to create images based on user input; however there have been observations of biases, in its generated images of men and houses.
