Meta’s popular messaging platform WhatsApp has received a design overhaul with its latest WhatsApp update. The refreshed interface brings color changes and improved animations to both iOS and Android.
The standout element of the WhatsApp update is the switch to a green accent color. Notification badges and buttons now sport a green hue. Android users will notice the tab bar has moved to the bottom for uniformity between platforms. Dark mode adopts darker shades intended to be more comfortable in low light conditions. Icons and illustrations also exhibit a rounder, softer appearance.
New Features in Latest WhatsApp Update

Meta describes optimizing WhatsApp to offer “an app that not only works seamlessly, but also feels like a natural extension of your phone.” The goal is to help people “focus on the conversations that matter in your daily life.” Simplicity, reliability and privacy remain top priorities according to Meta. Extensive testing with beta users preceded this public rollout of the WhatsApp update.
A few new capabilities were added in addition to the visual changes. Chat filters allow separating read and unread messages. Multiple messages can now be pinned in conversations. Enhanced text formatting provides more creative control over message styling. The WhatsApp update should install automatically or is available for download through app stores now.
