Google has revealed that it will incorporate its Gemini AI and other artificial intelligence functions into Chromebook Plus laptops including models, from Asus and HP that’re already available well as upcoming releases from Acer. These AI driven enhancements aim to offer users a variety of features, such as the “Help me write” tool personalized AI generated wallpapers and the Magic Editor feature on Google Photos, which is now starting to show up on Android devices.
To make these features easily accessible the Gemini AI icon will be included on the app shelf of Chromebook Plus devices. In addition buyers of laptops will enjoy a 12 month subscription to Google One AI Premium service. This subscription provides access to Gemini features 2TB of cloud storage and Gemini integration, with Docs, Sheets, Slides and Gmail.
New Acer Chromebook Plus Models
Acer has introduced two new Chromebook Plus models that will come with Gemini AI; the updated Chromebook Plus Spin 714 a 2 in 1 laptop and the Chromebook Plus 516GE designed for gaming. The Spin 714 offers a choice, between Intel Core Ultra 7 or Core Ultra 5 processors with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. On the hand the gaming focused 516GE features a 16 inch display with a resolution of 1600p and a refresh rate of 120Hz along with an RGB keyboard and GeForce Now already installed.
Both Asus and HP have also refreshed their Chromebook Plus series introducing the Asus CX34 and ExpertBook CX54 as the HP Chromebook Plus in both the standard size of14 inchesand convertible x360 models. These devices will also benefit from Gemini AI integration alongside Googles suite of AI tools and functionalities.
Looking forward Google has plans to roll out features for ChromeOS on Chromebook Plus devices throughout this year. These include “Project Gameface” incorporating AI powered face and gesture tracking technology Geminis “Help me read” feature, for summarizing PDF files a new Focus mode with Do Not Disturb functionality and the capability to share windows and programs seamlessly across all devices regardless of their operating systems.
