Bungie’s looter-shooter MMO Destiny 2 has hit a new all-time low of concurrent players on the Steam platform. However, known by Steam Charts, the tracker of players involved with Steam, there are only 32,497 players playing the game in the last 30 days on average. This shows a decrease in the popularity of the game from the record high of 123, 023 monthly active players that had been recorded in June 2024 after the release of the much anticipated season The Final Shape.
This has elicited a lot of concerns from the community of Destiny 2 given the fact that the number has declined by a staggering 74%. Some of the causes of this decline are the following: On the one hand, the Light and Darkness saga ended with The Final Shape expansion, so many people feel that they have completed their game. However, the recent events involving Bungie’s lay off and the unknown number and type of content expansions that are to be released in the future does not give confidence to the players.
