Google's new Android Theft Detection Lock feature rolls out, enhancing device security.

Google has introduced a security feature called Android Theft Detection Lock, which is now rolling out to Android devices starting with users, in Brazil. This latest function, unveiled in May aims to offer a layer of protection for your smartphone in case it ends up in the hands.

Using intelligence algorithms Android Theft Detection Lock can detect behavior that might indicate your phone has been stolen. It specifically looks for movement patterns linked to theft like a pull followed by quick movement away, from the location. If the feature detects theft of your device it will automatically lock your phone to prevent access.

This new security feature is part of a range of measures being introduced on Android. Along, with the Android Theft Detection Lock your phone will also automatically lock if there are failed login attempts or if the device goes offline for a period. Whether you use an Android or iOS device it’s important to make sure that your phone is set up with the built in location tracking feature. This enables you to remotely lock or erase your device if it goes missing or gets stolen.
