Amazon is getting ready to unveil an upgraded version of its voice assistant, Alexa with state of the art AI technology. However this enhanced Alexa may come with a price tag as reports suggest that users might have to pay, between $5 and $10 per month on top of their existing membership fees.
The new Alexa is set to debut in August. Will offer a range of features. Users won’t have to keep saying “Alexa” when interacting with the assistant anymore. It will be able to handle multiple requests in a single command. For example the AI driven Alexa could compose an email. Place an order from Uber Eats all, at once.
Alexa’s AI-Driven Features

One of the things, about the upcoming Alexa is its ability to “learn” from users and create personalized routines. For instance it could automatically start brewing a customers coffee when their alarm goes off in the morning. Furthermore the AI powered Alexa will provide shopping recommendations to assist users in choosing items for activities like suggesting the ideal hat and gloves for a mountain climbing trip.
While Amazon intends to add generative AI features to the version of Alexa advanced capabilities will only be available through a paid subscription. This decision highlights Amazons commitment to keeping up with the changing AI chatbot landscape dominated by companies such, as OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and even Apple, which is set to introduce an AI enhanced Siri in iOS 18.
