Modern Warfare 3 Faces Cheater Surge Post-Game Pass Launch

Modern Warfare 3 sees a significant rise in cheaters following its Xbox Game Pass debut.

The recent launch of Modern Warfare 3, on Xbox Game Pass has unfortunately led to a rise in cheating incidents as noted by Call of Duty news source CharlieINTEL. With the game to a large number of Game Pass subscribers there has been a noticeable uptick in players resorting to unfair tactics to gain an advantage during gameplay.

As reported by CharlieINTEL many of these cheaters in Modern Warfare 3 can be spotted by the presence of the Xbox logo next to their usernames in game lobbies. The sudden surge in cheaters is believed to be linked to the games addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, which currently boasts than 34 million users as of February 2024. This expanded player community appears to have attracted individuals looking to take advantage of vulnerabilities, within the game.

Activision’s Response and Anti-Cheat Measures

Activision, the company, behind the Call of Duty series has not made a statement regarding the increase in cheaters in Modern Warfare 3. However they have previously introduced their Ricochet cheat system, which uses a combination of machine learning and client and server side technologies to tackle cheating. Before the release of Modern Warfare 3 Ricochet had already taken action against than 80,000 accounts in Modern Warfare 2.

Players of Modern Warfare 3 are optimistic that Activision will promptly and effectively address the issue of cheating. Many are anticipating a blog post, from the company outlining their strategies to combat cheaters and giving an update on the number of banned accounts since the games launch on Game Pass. In the meantime players will need to stay alert and report any behavior they come across while playing.
