Manor Lords Publisher Defends Game’s Post-Launch Content Strategy

Manor Lords publisher Hooded Horse responds to criticism about post-launch content.

Hooded Horse, the company, behind the city building game Manor Lords has addressed concerns about the games content after its release. Some critics believe that more content should have been available post launch. Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender disagrees, noting that not every game must adopt a live service approach.

Manor Lords, created by solo developer Greg Styczeń (known as Slavic Magic) has seen success since its Early Access debut on April 26. With over 2 million copies sold within the three weeks and a ” positive” user rating on Steam the game has performed well. Despite this achievement there are observations of a decline in player numbers, as an indication of post launch updates.

Moreover Bender emphasized that not every game must constantly aim for expansion and that such pressure can negatively affect developers well being and creativity.

The publishers perspective on Manor Lords post content has garnered praise from industry peers. Bucky, the community leader at Pocketpair lauded Benders response as “impressive.” Amidst discussions in the gaming sector about live service games and post launch support expectations Hooded Horses strategy, with Manor Lords stands out as a reminder that success can be gauged in diverse ways.
