If you’re one of the many horror fans looking forward to getting creeped out by Heartworm, I’ve got some bummersville news for ya – the release date for this retro-style survival horror has been pushed back. Developer Vincent Adinolfi recently confirmed what we all feared was true, that Heartworm won’t be haunting our screens until 2025 thanks to some production setbacks.
Originally hoping to scare us silly this year, Adinolfi and team at DreadXP have had some bad luck putting all the spooky pieces together. Losing their publisher, having Kickstarter campaigns fall through, and then finding a new partner in DreadXP all contributed to delays. Adinolfi said with all the holdups, there was “no choice but to push things back – I hope you can understand.” No worries Vinnie, we fans will wait as long as it takes for you to perfect this “nostalgia-wrapped nightmare”!
What Can We Expect from Heartworm in the Meantime?
While the full release of Heartworm is further off than hoped, Adinolfi is giving fright fans a taste of the terror with a free playable demo available on Steam right now. Letting us experience a bit of the “cinematic fixed camera angles and low-fidelity visuals” that call back to classic survival horror on early consoles. Get a feel for the “compelling narrative that tackles themes of grief and obsession, supported by a haunting soundtrack and surreal visuals” to tide you over until 2025!
So mark your calendars horror hounds, Heartworm is coming, but not until a few more years have crawled by.
