In a twist a sneak peek of the awaited Civilization 7 briefly appeared on the official 2K Games website. The leak, swiftly taken down has stirred up excitement, among fans of the strategy franchise sparking discussions about an announcement at the upcoming Summer Game Fest.
Keen eyed users on ResetEra and Reddit managed to capture the banner showcasing not the Civilization 7 logo. Also teasing a trailer and Steam page that currently do not exist for wishlisting. This oversight has fueled speculation that the games unveiling’s imminent with many believing that the Summer Game Fest, on June 7 is likely to be where it will be officially revealed.
Speculation and Anticipation
The recent leak has finally put an end to the speculations surrounding 2Ks unveiling of “the next chapter, in one of its most popular and cherished game series” at the Summer Game Fest. While some fans had theories about a BioShock, Mafia or Borderlands installment it appears that Civilization 7 is indeed the game being referred to.
With the Civilization franchise having sold a 71 million copies far and Civilization 6 still holding its position among the top 20 most played games on Steam there is a tangible sense of excitement for the upcoming release. Firaxis Games, the studio responsible for the series had previously confirmed their efforts, on the Civ game back in February 2023 though they did not explicitly label it as Civilization 7 at that time.
