CD Projekt Focuses Half Its Staff on The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red shifts focus to The Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris.

CD Projekt Red, the regarded game developer has recently shifted a portion of its workforce, towards the development of The Witcher 4 a project that aims to revolutionize the gaming industry. Known internally as ‘Polaris this upcoming addition, to the Witcher series is poised to make an impact.

Since October 2023 330 developers, accounting for almost half of CD Projekt Reds team have been fully dedicated to The Witcher 4. This number is projected to grow and exceed 400 developers by mid 2024. The team working on this project initially consisted of 260 members in July 2023. Expanded significantly following the release of Cyberpunk 2077s expansion pack, Phantom Liberty.

This change, in direction is part of a strategy. Than a quarter of the developers are shifting their focus from Phantom Liberty to The Witcher 4 along with projects. This decision demonstrates CD Projekt Reds dedication to making Polaris more than a game; they want it to become a phenomenon.

However despite the increase in resources fans should manage their expectations for a release. As of October 2022 CD Projekt Reds CEO Adam Kiciński mentioned that The Witcher 4 is still three years away. The development process involves not creating a game but also developing new technology using Unreal Engine 5.
