Remedy Entertainment has rolled out a new update for their action horror game Alan Wake 2, focused on delivering framerate boosts through their latest Alan Wake 2 Patch. Digital Foundry got the chance to try out the update before it rolls out to everyone on March 6th. They discovered improvements, for Nvidia graphics cards, from eras.
According to DF’s testing, the GTX 1060 saw a massive 45% improvement on average after applying the Alan Wake 2 Patch. The performance gains for the GTX 1070 and 1080 were significant, with improvements of 57% and 85%. Particularly noteworthy was the GTX 1080Tis achievement almost reaching a 60 frames, per second at 1080p resolution settings.
The Patch Also Benefits Newer Ada Lovelace Cards
Interestingly the improvements made by Remedy also led to enhanced efficiency, on Nvidias RTX 40 Series Ada Lovelace design. According to DFs analysis there was a 14% increase in performance for the RTX 4070 when ray tracing was turned off and a 6% improvement when it was turned on. On the hand AMD GPUs showed varying outcomes with the RX 580 facing challenges and achieving only 15 frames, per second.
The Alan Wake 2 Patch represents Remedy’s ongoing commitment to enhance their new hit title across diverse PC hardware. Since its release, in October 2022 Alan Wake 2 has managed to sell than 1.3 million copies globally. The developers have plans, for two story expansions scheduled for later this year to allow a wider audience to immerse themselves in the eerie atmosphere of the game.
