Ubisoft’s FPS Xdefiant Goes Live Later This Month

Ubisoft has recently revealed that XDefiant, their to play FPS game, is set to launch in full on May 21st after facing several delays. The game will be accessible, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC through Ubisoft Connect. To start things off the developers are rolling out a preseason beta lasting six weeks before Season 1 kicks off.

In the preseason beta phase players will have the opportunity to explore five game modes across 14 maps. They can select from five factions like Libertad and Cleaners each offering active abilities. Additionally a variety of 24 weapons ranging from assault rifles to SMGs and sniper rifles will be, at their disposal. Players can also customize their gameplay experience by adding attachments to personalize their guns.

A Focus on Factions

Factions seem to be an element, in XDefiant offering abilities that cater to support, damage or utility roles. Ninja Theory is striving to provide gameplay styles within the gunplay characteristic of the genre. Although specific details about seasons are not yet revealed players can expect new factions, maps, weapons and more to be introduced in seasons following the beta phase.

With the official launch date now confirmed fans have an over two weeks to preload the beta version and immerse themselves in XDefiants 5v5 battles. The games emphasis on team composition and third person abilities adds a spin, to the arena shooter experience. It remains to be seen whether XDefiant can distinguish itself in the growing landscape of first person shooters.
