War Thunder, a military simulation game created by Gaijin Entertainment<\/a> faced backlash recently for unveiling artwork that showcases the aftermath of the tragic Challenger Space Shuttle disaster. This specific artwork was part of the games “Seek & Destroy” event. Has stirred up anger, among players and the gaming community at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The illustration displays three aircraft<\/a> engaged in combat with the haunting debris cloud from the Challenger disaster in the background. The Challenger Space Shuttle met a fate when it disintegrated after liftoff in January 1986 leading to the loss of all seven crew members. This catastrophic event continues to evoke memories for many and its portrayal, in War Thunders artwork has resulted in criticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the feedback Gaijin Entertainments community manager, Magazine2 issued an apology on behalf of the company. In the statement it was mentioned that there was an use of the explosion, from the Challenger disaster in one of their art<\/a> images. The company expressed regret for this oversight explaining that the image was part of a collection used as a reference by their artists and that its original context was not considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The studio has committed to making changes to the artwork and putting in place measures to prevent incidents in the future. Nevertheless War Thunders reputation has already taken a hit due to this incident with numerous players voicing their disappointment and frustration over the inclusion of such an event in the games promotional materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
