Bandai Namco has hit the cancel button on at least five unannounced titles according to a recent financial report. The publisher is refocusing efforts on “quality over quantity” going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report revealed Bandai Namco has implemented “stricter standards” during the development process. This has lead to the cancellation of a number of in-development projects. An exact number wasn’t provided but it’s reported to be “at least five games”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems like Bandai Namco<\/a> wants to avoid releasing any stinkers. With development cycles getting longer it’s understandable they’d get rid of games that weren’t shaping up. Quality is always better than rushing out a half-baked product. Fans will appreciate them taking their time to get things right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No details were shared about which games got cut. It’s all very hush hush for now. Bandai Namco probably doesn’t want to disappoint fans of cancelled projects prematurely. My guess is they were early in development so not much was known. Maybe we’ll get clues down the road if disgruntled devs spill some beans!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the time being we can only speculate. Possible victims could be new IP, spin-offs or sequels to smaller franchises. Big-hitters like Tekken <\/a>and Elden Ring<\/a> are surely safe. The publisher wants to focus on “strategic worldwide titles” too so expect more of those. With any luck the cancelled games will see new life further down the track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bandai Namco seems committed to a bright future. Ditching underwhelming projects is a smart move enabling better use of resources.
