In what seems like the strongest evidence yet, screenshots discovered on Reddit and analyzed by experts suggest Spotify’s much-anticipated “Spotify HiFi” lossless audio tier may launch very soon. The leaked screens show “Spotify HiFi” quality options up to 24-bit/2,117kbps and compatibility checks for devices and connections.
If legitimate, the screenshots provide the first real look at how “Spotify HiFi” would function within the Spotify app. They indicate support for offline listening in lossless quality and warn that Bluetooth will compromise sound. One screen even references Spotify Connect functionality for direct streaming to compatible hardware.
A Long Road To Spotify Hifi
Spotify first confirmed it was working on “Spotify HiFi” way back in 2021, but rumors of such a service date back even earlier. In the years since, competitors like Tidal, Amazon Music and Apple Music rolled out their own lossless options. Now, it seems Spotify may finally be ready to unveil what it’s been developing for its high-fidelity subscribers.
Of course, as the screenshots have not been officially released by Spotify, some skepticism remains. But the level of detail lends credibility that the launch of “Spotify HiFi” lossless audio could now be imminent after countless delays and teases. Audiophiles may soon have a new option for superior quality streaming on the platform.
