The indie developer Seethingswarm has officially lifted the veil on their highly anticipated pixel-art Metroidvania game Primal Planet. After over a decade in development, players will finally be able to step into the shoes of a prehistoric caveman and embark on an epic journey through eras both past and future.
Players take on the role of a simple cave dweller whose sole purpose is to protect his family from the dangers that lurk in their primordial world. However, what begins as a fight for survival against the islands ferocious dinosaurs quickly spirals into an adventure that will see him thrust forward and backward through time. From the lush jungles and volcanoes of prehistory to the mysterious ruins of an advanced yet abandoned civilization, players will get to experience the Earth as it once was and explore what it may become.
Cooperative Questing Through the Eons

What truly sets Primal Planet apart is its innovative 2-player cooperative mode. Not only can a second player drop in at any time to assist in battles, they will take control of the protagonists faithful companion – a Sinosauropteryx named Sino. As the duo journey together, Sino will grow from a small hatchling into a fierce protector. Players must work cooperatively, using their unique abilities to overcome obstacles, solve puzzles, and bring down even the most towering of foes. Through their cooperation, their bond and skills will strengthen in a way that celebrates teamwork.
In addition to the games bold narrative, Primal Planet promises sprawling landscapes to get lost in, an array of prehistoric creatures both familiar and fantastical to engage with, and an ever-deepening sense of mystery surrounding the advanced civilization remnants found along the way. With over a decade of experience, Seethingswarm aims to deliver an immersive and polished experience for players to lose themselves in. Those interested in following the games progress can wishlist it now on Steam ahead of its planned 2025 release.
