In the changing world of Mortal Kombat a new contender has made an entrance – Omni Man. NetherRealm Studios recently revealed the gameplay trailer featuring Omni Man, from the acclaimed Prime Video series “Invincible.” This exciting announcement took place during NYCC 2023 leaving the gaming community buzzing with anticipation for its release in November 2023.
Omni Man isn’t another character added to the roster; he takes stage as the very first playable character in Mortal Kombats Kombat Pack 1. Players have the option to choose Omni Man as a fighter or as a part of Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition.
The unveiled trailer offers an intense glimpse of Omni Man in his full combat prowess. What makes it more captivating is that many of his moves are directly inspired by moments from the “Invincible” series.
For those who may be unfamiliar or simply want a refresher there’s a side by side comparison that highlights how scenes from both the show and game parallel each other.
The synergy between these two forms of media is undeniable as emphasized by Robert Kirkman and Ed Boon during their panel at NYCC. They shared that every frame featuring Omni Man, in Mortal Kombat 1 draws inspiration from moments within the show.
That’s not all! Omni Man also made an appearance, in the Season 2 trailer of “Invincible.” In this trailer we witness Mark Grayson, the character grappling with the fear of becoming too similar to his father, Omni Man.
It’s not Omni Man that the Kombat Pack 1 has to offer. It brings a bunch of characters into play, including Tremor, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Takeda Takahashi and Homelander. And that’s not all – fighters from Kameo like Ferra, Johnny Cage, Chameleon and Mavado are also gearing up for battle.
When reviewing Mortal Kombat 1 critics have praised its bone crushing gameplay as one of the best in the series. This is largely thanks to the Kameo system. While NetherRealm has managed to deliver a single player story mode experience there are areas that could benefit from some improvements – such, as the new Invasions mode and online options.
