NeoSprint looks to channel the arcade racing thrills of classics like Sprint with new single and multiplayer modes on Switch.
Atari has announced that their upcoming arcade-inspired racer NeoSprint will be hitting acceleration and speeding onto the Nintendo Switch later in 2024. Taking inspiration from Atari classics of old like Sprint that could be found in arcades worldwide, NeoSprint channels the top-down perspective and competitive multiplayer thrills of those games but with a more modernized feature set and package.
Developed by Headless Chicken Games, NeoSprint aims to revitalize the arcade racer genre for modern platforms. It features a full single player career mode with multiple racing cups to compete across, as well as online multiplayer for up to 8 players. Customizable cars with different stats and a track builder that allows sharing user created circuits online are also part of the package to give players more control over their racing experience.
While drawing from the old-school arcade inspirations of games like Sprint, NeoSprint looks to bring the genre into the present day with new modes, customizations, and features. Time trial and obstacle course challenges are planned to provide more solitary racing gameplay alongside the competitive multiplayer. Further, the ability to customize cars with different colors and decals coupled with the track builder give players ways to personalize their experience that go beyond what typical arcade racers offered.
