Microsoft has made an announcement that they will not be releasing the Recall AI feature, along with the Copilot Plus PCs next week as originally planned. This decision was influenced by concerns raised by privacy advocates and security experts regarding the risks associated with the AI powered screenshot and retrieval system.
Initially intended to be a feature with security features, in the upcoming Windows 11 release Microsoft has chosen to delay the launch of Recall AI to conduct further testing within the Windows Insider program.

Microsoft is holding off on releasing Recall AI to gather insights, from the Windows Insider community. They want to make sure the feature meets their quality and security standards. The company plans to share a blog post explaining how users can try out the preview version of Recall AI once its ready for the Windows Insider Program.
This decision to delay Recall AIs launch follows Microsofts renewed focus on prioritizing security highlighted in its Secure Future Initiative (SFI). Brad Smith, Microsofts vice chair and president stressed the importance of cybersecurity during a testimony, before the House Homeland Security Committee. He also announced that cybersecurity would be an aspect of the companys annual employee evaluations.
