LG has announced a new entry in the smart home market: ThinQ ON. It may not be within the same brand of handsets, but LG does also assure that this svelte unit is capable of working with more than just its own LG-made smart home appliances. The ThinQ ON is centered on AI voice assistant, thus any user can control his connected equipment just by saying.
The ThinQ ON brings you to the future of smart homes with its powerful AI. According to LG, the hub is context-aware and can learn user behaviour for specific devices. With the ThinQ ON, it can predict your next decision so that you do not have to plan ahead which way for how long, allowing only a few examples like selecting my preferred thermostat heat/freeze level or choosing one of washer cycle I usually use. The hub can also send you notifications when a task has finished, for instance, an alert that the dryer cycle has ended.
Extensive Compatibility and Connectivity
What gives the ThinQ ON an edge is that it’s Matter certified. Matter is a unified protocol for smart home devices that works across different brands. It also supports Wi-Fi as well, and Thread (the latter is a low-power wireless protocol for home automation).
However, the acquisition of a smart home platform company Athom and its Homey Pro smart hub is going to take that ThinQ ON compatibility much farther. In time, the ThinQ ON will be able to control products of other brands from around 1,000 applications on the Homey App Store. The long list of compatible devices puts ThinQ ON in a powerful and versatile smart home hub that can seamlessly work with many different things.
LG will unveil the ThinQ ON at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany from September 6 to10 While pricing and availability details have not been announced, the ThinQ ON is expected to make a huge splash in smart home with its advanced AI voice assistant that can be used across multiple devices.
