In a turn of events the developer of the controversial game “The Day Before ” recently announced their decision to shut down mere days after the games release. Initially, they assured that The Day Before servers would continue, but the future of the game was uncertain. Now the studio has officially closed down.
The Day Before servers will be shut down month specifically on January 22 2024. Although “The Day Before” primarily emphasized gameplay it also allowed for play. Unfortunately the game encountered a setback when it was taken off Steam five days after its launch on December 12. Since then it hasn’t been possible to buy the game. Fntastic’s statement confirmed the game’s retirement and the shutdown of The Day Before servers.
The Final Countdown
Fntastic expressed their appreciation, for the support from the community. Mentioned that the lack of a development team led to the decision to close down. They have worked with Steam to ensure that all players who purchased the game will receive refunds. Steam has committed to refunding any players who are still awaiting their refunds.
“The Day Before” had a journey starting with its release in Access on December 7 and reaching a peak of 38,104 concurrent users. However the number of players dropped significantly to 55 as reported by SteamDB. The game also received reviews earning it a place among the top 10 worst reviewed games on Steam.
The games history was marked by controversy including instances of requesting volunteer work delays, in development and unfulfilled promises. Fntastics decision to remove its YouTube channel adds an air of mystery surrounding the development and sudden termination of the game. This closure not only marks the end of The Day Before servers but also reflects the unpredictable nature of the gaming industry, where not every ambitious project reaches the finish line.
