Valves Steam platform, an used distribution service once again set a new record, for the highest number of users online simultaneously reaching an impressive 37.2 million over the weekend. This surge in activity is largely due to the popularity of the action RPG game Black Myth Wukong, which has captured the attention of gamers worldwide.

Black Myth Wukong, created by the studio GameScience has been a hit since its debut. Based on the novel Journey to the West the game has already sold a remarkable 10 million copies in just three days. It quickly surpassed Steams record, for players in a single player game shortly after its launch.

The game has reached a peak of 2.13 million players playing simultaneously in the day ranking second to the popular battle royale game PUBG; Battlegrounds. Reports indicate that 80% of Black Myth Wukong players are from China showcasing the games popularity in its home country.

In contrast PlayStations new first person hero shooter, Concord has faced challenges in attracting players despite its budget and positive reviews. As Steam continues to grow in popularity it appears likely that the platform will soon surpass 40 million players further solidifying its position, as a leading game distribution platform.
