EA has unveiled an exciting Battlefield 2042 x Dead Space crossover event, set to take place from July 9 to July 16. The upcoming event, named Outbreak will transport the essence of the Dead Space universe into the action packed battlegrounds of Battlefield 2042.
Players, in this limited time scenario will confront waves of Necromorphs, the known foes, from the Dead Space franchise. The goal is to withstand the Necromorph attack and safely evacuate from the area. The Battlefield 2042 x Dead Space crossover event will be part of the game’s Season 7 – Turning Point, which launched in March and will serve as the final season for the shooter.
Dead Space Franchise on Hold?
The Battlefield 2042 x Dead Space crossover comes amidst reports that the Dead Space franchise may be on hold. The Dead Space remake, which garnered praise upon its release in January 2023 is said to have fallen of EAs sales projections. Motive, the studio, for the remake expressed interest in creating an installment, in the franchise; however it seems that their intentions were thwarted by the underwhelming sales figures.
In April EA revealed that Motive had joined forces, with the Battlefield development team collaborating with DICE, Criterion and Ripple Effect to build a Battlefield world encompassing both multiplayer and single player adventures. Although the fate of the Dead Space series is up in the air enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the spine Outbreak event within Battlefield 2042 where these cherished franchises collide, for an exhilarating crossover encounter.
