Obsidian Entertainments upcoming RPG, Avowed places an emphasis, on quality rather than high frame rates aiming for a minimum of 30 frames per second. During an interview on the Iron Lords podcast art director Matt Hansen shared that this choice was made in development to create an visually captivating experience.
Hansen explained, “As a person single player game we don’t necessarily require 60 frames per second.” This decision allows the team to focus on enhancing effects and lighting to enrich the game world. Despite the trade off Hansen mentioned that Avowed runs smoothly while maintaining its environment in line with their initial vision, for the game.
Avowed’s Release Date and Gameplay Details
Avowed planned for a 2024 debut has now been pushed back, to February 18 2025 as per an update from Xbox on their social media platform. This anticipated game is set in the Eora universe familiar to fans of Obsidians Pillars of Eternity series. Promises an immersive RPG experience. Director Carrie Patel shared that Avowed will offer over ten endings and a gameplay duration similar to their hit The Outer Worlds.
