Embark Studios has just announced that their new game, ARC Raiders is scheduled to be released in 2025. This news was shared during the gamescom Opening Night Live event, where the studio also mentioned that playtesting will begin this autumn. Fans who have been eagerly anticipating the launch of ARC Raiders can now start counting down to its arrival, next year.
Initially introduced at the 2021 Game Awards ARC Raiders was originally planned for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. However due to setbacks the games release date was pushed back first to 2023. Then further delayed until 2025. Additionally in 2023 it was announced that the game had transitioned from a cooperative PvP concept, to a “PvPvE survival extraction shooter.”
A Glimpse into the World of ARC Raiders
The recent preview revealed at gamescom gives a captivating glimpse into the sci fi universe of ARC Raiders. While the preview doesn’t dive into the gameplay details it effectively captures the essence and backdrop of the game. In a Medium article, from 2023 Aleksander Grøndal, the producer of the game teased a bit of the games backstory hinting at the obstacles players will encounter as Raiders searching for resources in a apocalyptic world dominated by machines.
Despite facing delays there is still anticipation surrounding ARC Raiders due to the development team behind it which includes former developers from Battlefield and Star Wars; Battlefront. As playtesting kicks off this autumn fans will surely be eager to discover more about the games mechanics and try out its mix of player versus player (PvP) and player versus environment (PvE) elements that ARC Raiders is set to offer. With an official release window now confirmed for 2025, excitement, for this sci fi shooter is expected to soar in the months.
